Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
