Recently, the company's top executive a key figure informed staff about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a more defined game identity.

The president noted that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a revised vision, aiming to satisfy player expectations.

Here is the complete text from Ismailer's announcement:

Dear Team—

I know you all just completed your town hall - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the positive developments. Last time I shared you all a update, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative developers we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to continue.”

Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.

The gamer responses from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It affirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It highlighted the need for a sharper vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to mind and reimagined the title with a revitalized goal - one that’s positioned to deliver on its ambition to our fans.

The belief in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Director of 31st Union. Following several months of discussions, he starts with us on Monday, October 20.

His management and experience in the PVP shooter space is vast, having dedicated the past decade and a half developing and overseeing some of the most well-known titles in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in welcoming Ben soon. We are all looking forward to persist witnessing the progress of Project ETHOS in the weeks to follow.

The President

Experience of the New Leader

Brinkman currently serves in the role of senior developer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. He earlier worked at Treyarch and Activision in various development positions on the Call of Duty series, and, before that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.

Title Information and Vision

Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a community playtest. At the time, the developers described the title as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an exciting advancement on the category."

"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Build your hero in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the game's pitch states. "Take on the opponents with unique powers, challenges, and obstacles that change every session. Will you safely extract with your collected items? Or aim high, risk it all, and trust your group can achieve the highest spot? The choice is up to you."

The game lacks an confirmed debut schedule or consoles, but enthusiasts can anticipate more updates as development continues.
